Hans Jörnvall, born 1942, M.D., Ph.D. Professor of Physiological Chemistry at Karolinska Institutet since 1982. Chairman of the Department of Physiological Chemistry 1987 – 1993 and of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics 1993 – 1999. He has conducted research in biochemistry, molecular biology, proteomics and molecular evolution at Karolinska Institutet and abroad (Cambridge, UK; UCLA, NIH, Harvard, US; Memorial Univ, Canada). Senior Professor 2018 (in part from 2009).

Member of the Medical Nobel Assembly (1989 – 2009, Secretary General 2000 – 2008) and the Medical Nobel Committee (1992 – 2009). Member of the Faculty Board of Karolinska Institutet (1984 – 1990), the Board of the Swedish Medical Research Council (1995 – 1998), the Board of the Nobel Foundation (2000 – 2008). Member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Nordrhein-Westfälische Academy of Sciences, and EMBO. Member of the Council of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. Editorial positions with EJB, FJ, CMLS, Protein Sci, BBRC. Publications (>800) and Mentor for PhD theses (43).
